FLUSHING – The Swartz Creek/Flushing hockey team will be looking to replaced departed seniors Seth Crompton, Kamryn Houle, Dylan Stankewicz, Austin Sanborn and Nik Calugaru. The underclassmen definitely improved over the season, where they went 9-13-1, and that will bode well for the upcoming campaign.

Unfortunately for SCF, they had a tough draw in the pre-regional last year with the season ending in a 7-5 loss to Alliance (LakeVille/Goodrich/Almont/ Imlay City/North Branch).

Jake Castles and Brendan Ogle will be the key returning players to lead the way. Also joining the program looking to make an immediate impact is Cam Beckwith.

“Biggest challenges include trying to keep improving to elevate our game to the next level,” said SCF coach Ben Guzak. “Hockey is changing in the area. I see more combined teams and co-ops. My expectations from this year’s squad include strong work ethic, discipline and having character guys on and off the ice.”

SCF opened the season yesterday, following deadlines, against the Alliance at Iceland Arena.
