Schedule of Autism support groups in Genesee County



GENESEE COUNTY — The Autism Support Group of Genesee County (ASGGC), 4476 S. Dort Hwy., Burton, will be holding the following:

• New Diagnosis & Young Child Group — first Tuesday of the month. 6:30-8 p.m. A support group for parents new to Autism (5-10 people only). Meet one on one with Bill Nason, limited licensed Psychologist.

• Transition Planning Group — second Tuesday of the month from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. Help with housing, vocational education, funding, life skills, support staffing, guardianship and other issues important for planning for adult living.

• ASGGC Support Group — third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. Open forum for moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers (15-35 people). Occasional speakers on IEPs, Bullying, etc. (Childcare Available)

• Adult HFA/Aspergers Social Group 18+ — first Friday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Socially connect adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Cost is $5/person for pizza and supplies. Bring a two liter of soda or dessert or snacks to pass.

• Kids Social Group (ages 10 & under) — second Friday of the month. 6-8 p.m. Socially connect Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) children (ages 10 & under). $10/family for pizza & supplies. Bring a two liter of soda or dessert or snacks to pass.

• Asperger’s Teen Social Group (ages 11-17) — third Friday of the month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Helping Aspies socialize and form friendships. Activities: video games, movies, board games, and more. Parents are encouraged to stay and socialize. Cost is $10/family for pizza and supplies. Bring a two liter of soda or dessert or snacks to pass.
