Schools of Choice info for non-residents

FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools is accepting applications for Kindergarten – 5th grade through the Limited State Schools of Choice program for the 2015-2016 school year.

Applications will be available May 11, 2015 – June 9, 2015. This is only a 30 day window for applications. Under the Limited State School of Choice Program, your application and behavior report for the last two years must be turned in to Carman-Ainsworth during this 30 day window for it to be accepted. The Limited Choice program allows a limited number of students who live outside the district to attend Carman-Ainsworth Schools. The “limited” version allows the District to designate open seats by building and grade.

If applications exceed openings, there will be a lottery drawing for that grade/ building. Parents will receive a notification letter as to the application outcome two weeks after the close of the application period.

The district also is accepting applications for grades 6 – 12 through the Unlimited State Schools of Choice program. Applications will be available from now until September 3, 2015 for those grades.

Students currently attending Carman- Ainsworth but have moved and no longer live in the Carman-Ainsworth District, must apply to be accepted through the State Choice Program for them to continue next year. If not, they will need to enroll in their new resident district in the fall of 2015.

Students accepted under the Schools of Choice Program are allowed to stay in the nonresident district until graduation. Student transportation must be provided by the parent/guardian.
