FLINT TWP. — About a year ago, the Little Lambs Closet of the West Flint Church of the Nazarene, 2254 S. Dye Road, held a scrap-booking event to raise money to make cosmetic improvements to its Mobile Everything Response Vehicle (MERV), a used 26-foot recreational purchased in 2015. The vehicle was used to help the Little Lamb’s Closet take its charitable services on the road.
Unfortunately, on August 21, the MERV was destroyed by a fire. Now organizers are planning a second scrapping event to raise money for another vehicle.
“We did it once and be believe we should do it again,” stated a flier, announcing the event. “All proceeds from this event will help make MERV 2.0 a reality.”
The event will be held in the church’s Family Life Center from 9 a.m. to 9 pm. on Saturday April 29.
The cost is $30 if paid by April 15 and $35 after that, if space still is available. Admission includes a continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages, wireless internet connection, four-feet of table space and ten tickets for prize drawings. Power outlets will be available, if needed. Vendors will be on site, goodie bags and prize drawings throughout the day. Donate a package of diapers to receive 5 tickets for prize drawings.
Since 2005, Little Lamb’s Closet has provided basic needs to families with children including clothing, shoes, diapers, bedding and more. Uses of the MERV included delivering needed items to families without transportation, making food and water distributions and helping families after a house fire.
Reservations for the scrapping event will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to register log online at www,westflintnazarene.org/ events/crop4llc
