FLINT TWP. — Lingering warmer weather recently allowed for a few more pleasant walks in the township park but there’s only about a month left until autumn ends and winter sets in. It serves as a good time for reminders about other seasonal endings.
TRAIL END — The recreational Genesee Valley Trail is accessible year-round but officially closes December 1 and will not reopen until April 1, 2016. During that time, it will likely not be maintained or policed. Walkers, runners and bicyclists regularly use the approximately 3-mile-long non-motorized trail. It runs from the township park on Norko Drive to Corunna Road near Ballenger Highway where it now connects to a trail that opened this summer and extends into the City of Flint.
YARD WASTE — Last chance to dispose of leaves and other yard waste. Emterra, the township’s trash service, will make its last yard waste pick-up of the season on Friday, November 27 – one day later than usual due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Yard waste pickup will not resume until next spring. Township residents also have monthly dumping privileges at the Brent Run landfill in Montrose, which is open Monday through Saturday but closed most major holidays.
