FLINT — Baker College of Flint will host the 2nd Annual Car and Motorcycle show on May 22, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Car and motorcycle enthusiasts, as well as the general public, are invited to attend the free event, which will be held at The Center for Transportation Technology (CTT), 1717 S. Dort Highway, Flint.
Free parking and shuttle service will be available at the Perani Arena & Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Rd., with handicapped parking permitted at the CTT.
“Last year was such a great success that we decided to do it again,” said Phillip W. Whitmer, Baker College of Flint dean of transportation technology. “We had more than 1,000 attendees and 300 entries, and we’re hoping to exceed that number this year. With the help of our partners in the community, such as Perani Center donating the use of their parking lot, we are able to provide a great event for the entire family. This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and partake in the first of several major vehicle events in Genesee County this year.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to view many makes and models of motorcycles and automobiles, including classics, modified models, rat rods, tuners and low riders. There will be a strippeddown 1963 Cadillac, in process of being completely restored by Baker’s auto body students. The day’s events will also include guided tours of the CTT facility by Baker College students. Admissions representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide additional information about all of Baker College’s programs.
“To help commemorate Baker’s 100th anniversary, we will have several 1911 vehicles on display,” said Whitmer.
Disc jockey John Davis will be on site to provide music and entertainment for all attendees. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase; popcorn will be provided free of charge to everyone.
Special events include Mustang and Corvette chassis dynamometer demonstrations and a motorcycle awareness program.
The following vendors are currently scheduled to participate: Wolf Creek Trailer Sales, Miche Bags, Healing Feather Massage, The Motorcycle Lawyer, Custom Gas Pump Creations, Ruby Royalty, Rebel Girl Wear, Timeless Photography, Breast Cancer Awareness for Life, Leather Works, Anjill or Not, Victory Biker Church, Back to the Bricks, Bikes on the Bricks and the Flint Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Whitmer said although there is no registration, all car and motorcycle entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. until noon on May 22.
