GRAND BLANC — Longtime General Manager of the Al Serra Auto Plaza, Denny Dunfield, has accepted a new challenge as Vice President of Serra Automotive, one of the largest dealer groups in the nation. The move becomes effective at the beginning of the new year.
“The key to building a successful organization is to surround yourself with outstanding individuals,” said Joe Serra, President of Serra Automotive. “No one is more talented, focused, committed and deserving of this opportunity than Denny. I am thrilled that he is willing to continue to help me drive Serra Automotive into the future.”
Dunfield brings with him more than 40-years-experience in the car business, the last 20 of those years at the helm of Serra Automotive’s flagship location, the Al Serra Auto Plaza in Grand Blanc.
“Denny has been vital to the growth and long-term success of the Auto Plaza,” said Serra. “His promotion to Vice President of our entire organization will allow us to benefit from his knowledge and expertise throughout our dealer network.”
Born, raised and still living in the Fenton area, Dunfield is looking forward to stepping up to his new post within the Serra Automotive family.
“I’ve loved the car business since the moment I got in it,” says Dunfield. “In order to be successful in it, you have to be passionate. And in all my time in this profession, I’ve never come across an individual with more passion for what he does and the people he works with than Joe Serra. I couldn’t be more excited to work side by side with him for many more years to come.”
According to Serra, Dunfield’s vast retail automotive experience will play a vital role in helping maintain and enhance the organization’s dealer network.

Serra Automotive, headquartered in Grand Blanc, ranks among the top 10 privately-held automotive groups in the nation. The network is currently comprised of 45 automotive franchises, with 31 dealerships in seven states, including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, New Jersey and Colorado.
Those numbers will increase on Dec. 1, when Serra Automotive is scheduled to finalize the purchase of Cherry Capital Cadillac-Subaru and Traverse Motors Audi-Nissan-Toyota- Volkswagen- Volvo in Traverse City. — G.G.
