FLINT TWP. — The team at Shea Automotive Group is seeking nominations for local heroes. Winners will receive lunch for 10 from Ruggero’s Italian Restaurant delivered by the Shea team.

Before the COVID- 19 pandemic, the team at Shea accepted nominations for UAW employees and fed them, also in partnership with Ruggero’s. When the pandemic hit, the Shea team decided to expand that idea and include frontline workers.

Shea Automotive Group owner Stacy Shea Fields said they are looking to thank heroes in this pandemic including doctors, nurses, EMT personnel, grocery store clerks and beyond. Anyone working the frontlines to keep our lives going is eligible.

“We’re looking to do whatever we can do,” said Fields, who added that since the pandemic started, changing the way her team had to do business, they’ve found ways to give back. “We’re interested in taking care of our community.”

To nominate a hero simply email sheaheroes@classicfox.com. Fields said to include the person’s name, job title, place of employment and a short explanation about why he or she should win.

The Shea team delivered lunch last week to the first winner, Rylee Resser, an RN at Hurley Medical Center.

“It was great,” said Fields.

The next winner is Alek Drouin, a respiratory therapist at Genesys Hospital.

Fields said the Health Care Heroes campaign is just one small way her team is keeping busy and upbeat during these trying times.

“We try to stay really positive,” she said.
