Volunteers with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and its local partners descended upon Flint and surrounding communities for the first-ever “Walk With Us” Day of Service on May 30. Eight teams of volunteers from local businesses, churches, police groups and nonprofit organizations were dispatched to community revitalization projects across the county, including highway clean-ups, neighborhood block projects and a beautification project across from the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Flint. Volunteers also mowed grass and picked up trash around the Flint Rock on Hammerberg Road near I-69, while also giving the popular memorial spot a fresh coat of paint to mark the occasion. Altogether, “Walk With Us” encompassed 16 revitalization projects in Flint and Genesee County.
