Opening night of the holiday light display at Grand Blanc Township’s Bicentennial Park proved to be overwhelmingly successful. “We would like to thank the community for the overwhelming response on Friday,” said Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Linihan. “Thanks to the community, we donated multiple trailer and vehicle loads of toys and nonperishable goods to FISH of Grand Blanc.” There were some traffic problems, however, so anyone planning to attend the drive-through event should keep in mind that traffic may enter the park only from westbound Grand Blanc Road. Visitors should access Grand Blanc Road from Dort Highway. The park will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19. The event is free, but donations of unwrapped toys or nonperishable food items for FISH of Grand Blanc will be accepted. Anyone who donates will receive cookies and hot chocolate. Anyone interested in volunteering should email gbtpr@twp.grand-blanc.mi.us. For more information, visit the Grand Blanc Parks and Recreation Facebook page at www.facebook.com/gbparksandrec.
