FLINT TWP. — For anyone who has a stash of fireworks left over from your Memorial Day celebration, if you were planning to finish stetting them off this weekend, be warned that you would be in violation of a township ordinance. A notice to that effect is posted on the township website as a reminder.
A township fireworks ordinance states that “No person shall use consumer fireworks in the township other than on the day preceding, the day of, or the day after a national holiday.”
That legal period ended Tuesday, May 31. Anyone caught in violation of the ordinance will be subject to being charged with a municipal civil infraction.
The full ordinance is posted on the township website and includes a definition of consumer fireworks and rules for where and how to detonate them.
As for those leftover fireworks anyone still has – hang onto them until for about a month until the Fourth of July legal celebration period that begins Jul 3-5.
