Six arrested in gas station carjacking/homicide case

FLINT TWP. — A sixth suspect sought in the carjacking/homicide of a Grand Blanc woman was found and taken into custody Monday night, Chief George Sippert said in a brief update at the Flint Township Board meeting.

Leslie Marie Mills, a white female, 55, was shot during a carjacking at the One Stop – Mobil Gas Station at 4107 Corunna Rd. at about 9:05 p.m. Sunday, according to police reports. She died a short time later at Hurley Medical Center.

Early Monday, police issued a statement five people had been arrested in connection with the incident.

On Monday afternoon, police released a wanted poster seeking public help in locating Matthew Allen Riselay, 19, identified as a sixth person of interest in the case. He was captured just before 7 p.m., Sippert said.

Mills’ stolen car was recovered a short distance away from the crime scene, according to police reports. Michigan State Police Crime Lab are assisting with the investigation.

“I am particularly proud of the way officers handled this case,’’ Sippert said. The officers controlled their emotions and came in and did the job they had to do, he said.

The Genesee County Prosecutors Office will be reviewing the case and the involvement of the persons arrested.

Sippert said he expected arraignment would likely not take place until Wednesday.
