FLINT TWP.—Authorities have arrested and charged six men in connection to a shooting at the Genesee Valley Center mall last month.
On the afternoon of Oct. 16, Flint Township Police were dispatched to the mall for a report of shots fired near the JC Penney store. Upon arrival, officers learned that a physical altercation between patrons had escalated into a gunfight, with multiple handguns being drawn and shots exchanged between the involved parties.
Two people involved in the shooting were critically injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment, while the other four suspects fled the scene and remained at-large for several weeks. No bystanders were injured in the shooting.
The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office has issued the following charges to the suspects:
Mikhael Emmanuel Collins – assault with intent to murder, felony firearm (x3), weapons – discharge in a building causing impairment, carrying a concealed weapon, malicious destruction of property $1,000-$20,000.
Lionell Jabar Brown – assault with intent to murder, felony firearm (x5), weapons – discharge in a building causing impairment, malicious destruction of property – $1,000-$20,000, possession of a machine gun, felon in possession of firearm, carrying a concealed weapon.
Desmion William Hodo – possession of a machine gun, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon.
Trevon Lanard Davis – tampering with evidence, felony firearm, lying to a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon.
Two people who haven’t been identified are also facing multiple felony firearm charges, along with assault with intent to murder, malicious destruction of property and discharge in a building causing impairment.
All four of the named suspects have been arraigned in the 67th District Court. The other two suspects were arrested in Texas and are awaiting extradition proceedings before being transported back to Michigan.
There are no other outstanding suspects.
