FLINT — In what has become a local tradition following the Thanksgiving holiday, local charities are once again expressing their gratitude to Skaff Furniture Carpet One and hundreds of their customers.
“We are just thrilled to have been included in this amazing Save and Share event,” said Mindy Prusa of Whaley Children’s Center. “Thanks to Skaff and the overwhelming community support the money raised will provide care, treatment and give much needed hope to children at risk.”
This year, checks totaling $16,000 will be divided among Carriage Town Ministries, Communities First, The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, and Whaley’s Children’s Center.
“People turned out despite the cold and the snow,” said Skaff Furniture- Carpet One President Dick Skaff. “We always look forward to our Save and Share event, for us it’s an opportunity to deliver outstanding values to our customers and give back to the community that has supported us all these years.”
According to Skaff, 5 percent of every furniture and carpet purchase made between Nov. 23-26 went to the participating charity partners.
Over the past three years, the Save and Share event has generated nearly $70,000.
“The money donated as a result of Save and Share has made a tremendous impact on what we’re able to accomplish at Whaley Children’s Center,” says Prusa. “And I know the other organizations feel the same way. Everyone involved benefits!”
The fact that everyone benefits and brings so many motivated people together has been one major factor in Save and Share’s phenomenal success.
“Our charity partners provide a lot of enthusiasm and support, our Skaff team gets excited and energized, and our customers are pleased that not only are they saving on quality furniture and carpet, but that some of their money goes to help people right here where we live.” Says Skaff. “For us these past few years Save and Share has been an exclamation mark on our Thanksgiving holiday.” — G.G.
