Francis Gary Powers was the famous American pilot whose U-2 spy plane was shot down over the Soviet Union. His son, Gary Powers, Jr. will give a brief overview of the Cold War, the misinformation surrounding the 1960 U-2 Incident, the family’s effort to set the record Sloan Museum, Longway Planetarium & Buick Automotive Gallery straight, and current efforts to honor Cold War veterans, preserve Cold War history, and educate future generations about this time period. Book signing following the presentation. Books and Cold War memorabilia available for purchase. Seating is limited.
