FLINT – The Carman-Ainsworth girls’ soccer team opened the season on a high note with a 2-1 triumph over Owosso on home turf Tuesday. Destinee Lester was responsible for netting both goals, while Angel Eubanks corralled eight saves in net.
“It was a fantastic first showing from this year’s group for a first game,” said Carman-Ainsworth coach Jessyca Mathews. “I saw things happen that I haven’t seen in the past four years. Everyone worked together as a unit, and new players seemed comfortable for their first game.
“The Player of the Game is first year varsity member and defender, Karyn King, who did an amazing job on the left hand side defending a productive member of the Owosso squad. This was Karyn’s first start and she worked hard and played the game smarter than we have ever seen before. Overall, I see promise in this group that is committed to unity, communication, and hard work.”
