SWARTZ CREEK — Spartan Stores, based in Grand Rapids, recently kicked off its third annual My Michigan Matters fundraiser in corporate retail stores throughout Michigan.
The fundraiser, which runs through Aug. 11, allows customers to make donations in $1, $2 and $3 increments at the checkout lane. In return, a customer who donates money will receive more than $3 worth of product coupons as a thank you.
The fundraiser will run in the corporate Spartan Stores, including VG’s, D&W Fresh Market, Family Fare, Glen’s and Valu Land.
The fundraiser partners with the Spartan Stores Foundation, which has the initiatives of fighting hunger, encouraging health and wellness, promoting diversity ad inclusion and supporting education and literacy. Money raised in the local stores will be combined with the efforts of the Spartan Stores Foundation to give back to Michigan communities.
“At Spartan Stores we understand that our success is closely linked to the vitality of the communities we serve. We have a responsibility to step up and enrich our neighborhoods by investing our company resources,” said Dennis Eidson, president and CEO of Spartan Stores. “By focusing on the staples in life, we can help open doors to brighter futures for all of the people we serve, especially those struggling to make ends meet.”

“The partnership with Spartan Stores has enhanced and blessed those who live at the home,” said Tiffany Carr, director of community and membership relations at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. “Many of our veterans who come to live with us have little to nothing left in regards to family, clothing, dignity or hope. We are able to restore an enhance all of those aspects with the support of organizations like Spartan corporation.
