EAST LANSING – Fifth-year Michigan State University running back Gerald Holmes, a graduate of Carman-Ainsworth High, was one of 15 seniors in the spotlight during Senior Night Saturday in State’s 17-7 win over Maryland.

It was an ugly day with pouring rain and winds that turned to blowing snow around halftime.

Holmes made 11 carries for 64 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. His career stats to date include 1,241 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. He’s also hauled in 28 catches for 218 yards and one touchdown, for 14 touchdowns total.

State finishes the season out on the road Saturday at Rutgers with a 4p.m. kickoff. The game will be broadcast on FOX. – L.P.
