GRAND BLANC — Three weeks ahead of the Ally Challenge, Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club will play host to the 33rd Annual Whaley Golf Classic.
The event, which will raise funds for the Whaley Children’s Center in Flint, is set to tee off at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27. The cost to field a foursome team is $1,500 and includes 18 holes of golf, gift bags and reservations for an awards dinner and reception. Registration will be open until 8 a.m.
The all-day golf outing will also feature silent and live auctions, raffles, games and snacks for participants.
One key item up for auction is the chance to play a round with legendary Detroit Pistons play-by-play commentator George Blaha, who’s returning to guest host this year’s outing.
“We’re super excited to have George back this year,” said Mindy Prusa, President and CEO of Whaley Children’s Center. “He brings a lot of excitement to the outing, and usually a celebrity guest or two.”
Sponsorship opportunities are still available for businesses and organizations, who can secure spots by contacting Dawn Wisner at 810-234- 3603 or DWisner@WhaleyChildren.org.
Prusa is encouraging area sponsors and golfers alike to participate in one of her organization’s largest yearly fundraisers.
“Not only can you come and play at a prestigious course like Warwick, but you can also help kids have a chance to be kids,” she said. “Funds raised by this outing go directly to Whaley Children’s Center and provide everything from birthdays and Christmas gifts to football cleats and prom dresses.”
With 20% of the center’s budgets coming from donations, Prusa said that every sponsorship and entry counts. She’s thankful for the considerable support that the outing has already received, including from its title sponsor, Client Financial Services.
