Sportsman Spectacular on the slate

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Ducks Unlimited Chapter will host a Sportsman Spectactular October 4 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $65 in advance, $75 at the door and Includes dinner, live auction, silent auction, and raffles. FLINT TWP. — Now that the 2012 varsity sports season is in full swing, coaches are reminded that all scores must be reported by Wednesday at 9 am. to the Flint Twp. BURTON — The Bendle/Carman-Ainsworth Adult and Community Education program has a wealth of offerings for Fall 2012 that include Karate for Kids ages four and up for $25 at South Bendle on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. from Nov. 13-Jan. 15. Karate for Kids is also available at Woodland from Sept. 20-Nov. 8 or Nov. 15-Jan. 17 on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m.

With all classes taught by Black Belt instructors and each course combining Sanchin-Ryu Karate and Self Defense and Project Secure Child (child saftey), other offerings include Karate for Families for anyone ages four and up for $50 at South Bendle from Nov. 13-Jan. 15 on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30. That same class will be available at Woodland from Sept. 20-Nov. 8 or Nov. 15-Jan. 17 on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m..

FLINT TWP. — Carman-Ainsworth high school will host several adult health and fitness programs currently offered through the Bendle/Carman-Ainsworth Adult and Community Education Program. This includes Indoor Walking from Sept. 24-Dec. 5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday and Wednesdays at no cost, Water Aerobics will be available from Sept. 29-Nov. 17 on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. for $25 and Hip Hop for the Beginner takes place Sept. 25-Oct. 30 on Mondays from 6-6:45 p.m. for $49.

Local figure skating club hosting skills competition

LAPEER — The Ice Mountain Figure Skating Club will be hosting its Fifth Annual Michigan Basic Skills Series Competition on Sept. 29 at the Polar Palace. “Skate the Mountain,” a U.S. Figure Skating sanction event, is open to the public with free admission. GENESEE COUNTY — Competing in disciplines including Equitation, Showmanship, Pleasure, Gymkhana, Trail and Saddleseat Pattern, Equine Excellence 4-H Club of Goodrich members Kelsey Holt, Karleigh Pugh and Kaitlin Sallans qualified for the State 4-H Show last month at Michigan State University while ridiing at the 4-H’s Acheivement Days. — M.S.

GRAND BLANC — Lady Bobcats varsity girls basketball coach Megan Noll and her team will host a skills clinic for girls in grades 3-6 that includes four nights of basketball for $55 per student. Those who return their completed forms by Sept. 21 can register for $50 each, or $45 if using sibling discount. Sessions begin on Oct. 4 in the Tartoni Athletic Center at the high school at 5:30 p.m. for registration, basketball FUNdamentals takes place at 6 p.m. and from 7-7:30 p.m. athletes will be placed on either the 3-4 grade or 5-6 grade teams during team bonding.
