Deer check stations open

AREAWIDE — Hunters are reminded that many deer check stations are open during the archery and firearm segments of the whitetailed deer hunting season that is ongoing through Dec. 31. The firearm deer season opens Monday, Nov. 15 statewide. Deer check stations offer state wildlife biologists to help age deer, check for overall health and answer questions hunters may have on the deer herd in their hunting areas. Friday’s the night for fun

FLINT TWP. — Kids ages 7-11 are invited to Carman-Ainsworth High School 6:30-9 p.m. Oct. 29 for a swim and gym night. The event features a variety of activities including swimming, basketball, kickball, board games, crafts, music, socializing and pizza. The event is just for kids; all students must be checked in and out by a parent and/or guardian.

Loggers gear available for purchase

LAPEER — The Lapeer Loggers, proud members of the All American Hockey League, announced that the team is searching for a Superfan. Candidates must be season ticket holders who expect to attend at least 90 percent of the Loggers’ home games. Second session nearing at Cage Sports

SWARTZ CREEK — Session 2 of the Cage leagues for boys and girls in grades 1-8 are about to take place at the Cage Sports complex. The session runs NOv. 6-Dec. 21 featuring 10 games plus playoffs.
