Ice races roll into Perani Arena
FLINT — The 51st annual Indoor Motorcycle Races, hosted by the Flint Motorcycle Club, take place on Dec. 4 at Perani Arena with doors open at 6 p.m. The event features races for kids and adults and kids as young as four competing. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster or the Perani Arena box office. Adults pay $16 and kids $8. Proceeds for the night go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint. Iceland Arenas drop-in programs
FLINT — Adult pick-up hockey and Stick-NPuck programs are available on a drop-in basis at Iceland Arena. Stick-N-Puck is for players ages 7-14, who must have their own helmet, skates and gloves. Cost is $8 and a signed waiver is required. Sessions are Sundays from 3-3:50 p.m. Adult pick-up is Mondays and Wednesdays at various times and is intended for players ages 16 or older. Full equipment and signed waiver are required. Cost is $10, with goalies paying just $2. — L.P.
Derby Girls take in Glass City Rollers
MT. MORRIS TWP. — The Mid Michigan Derby Girls invite the public to a match against their long time friends, the Glass City Rollers of Toledo, November 20 at 7 p.m. The teams meet on the oval at 7 p.m. at Skateland Arena, 8460 N. Dort Highway. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the expected standing room only crowd. Tickets at $6 in advance, or $8 at the door. Kids under 12 are admitted free of charge. All-Star Learn to Skate
FLINT — Recreational and competive skaters can learn to play hockey, speed skate or figure skate at Iceland Arenas Mondays and Saturdays. The ALL-STAR Program features the USFS Basic Skills curriculum, designed for skaters of all ages and abilities and is progressively structured for the skater from beginner to advanced. LL-STAR Learn to Skate Hockey, Figure Skating & Speed Skating are also available.
Classes are offered year round and participants can join anytime. Pro-rated fees are offered. The Greater Mid Michigan Skating Club provides USFS badge testing during one class monthly. Participants will be given an USFS log book to keep track of their level and progress. The eight-week sessions cost $80 for one day, or $120 for both. Sessions run Monday, 6-6:50 p.m. and Saturdays 11-11:50 a.m. Winter sessions runs through December 18. — L.P.
Snowmobile safety class coming soon
DAVISON — A snowmobile safety class will be offered Dec. 14 and Jan. 25 from 6-9 p.m. at Davison High School. The one-week session is taught and certified by the Department of Natural Resources and involves home study. Students who successfully complete and pass the written test will receive a Snowmobile Safety Certificate. Fee is $15 and students must pre-register.
