Carman-Ainsworth product honored as announcer
ALMA — Richard Lee, who taught in the Carman-Ainsworth school district from 1963-2000 and was a member of the Cavaliers’ Board of Education from 2001-05, was inducted into the Alma College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 after 23 years as the public address announcer at Bahlke Field. Great Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk coming up Oct. 12
DAVISON — The Great Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk will take place on Oct. 12 at Davison High School, 1250 N. Oak Rd. Registration on the day of the event commences at 7:30 a.m., the 5K Run begins at 9:15 a.m. followed by the 5K walk a minute later and the Kid’s Run is slated for 10:15 a.m. followed by the awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Until Oct. 10 at 9 p.m., cost is $17 without shirt, $20 with shirt or $25 with long-sleeve shirt. Kids football starts Saturday

Family Promise 5K Sept. 7
GRAND BLANC — Family Promise of Genesee County is sponsoring a 5K Run/Walk on September 7 at Genesys Health Park’s walking trail. Entry fee is $25 including a T-shirt if registered by Aug. 30. Children 10 and under are free, and strollers are welcome. Family Promise is an interfaith organization dedicated to keeping families together during temporary periods of homelessness.
