FLINT — The Flint City Derby Girls women’s flat track roller derby squad next competes at home on March 22 against the Mountain Town Mayhem at the Perani Arena and Event Center. The squad then hosts the Southern Belles on April 26 and is currently looking for volunteers, referees and skaters. Details: — M.S.

Supercross back in Detroit

DETROIT – The world’s top Monster Energy Supercross racers are coming back to Detroit for the first time since 2008. The Monster Energy AMA Supercross series will make a stop at Ford Field on March 15. Among the riders expected to compete are Holly resident Broc Tickle and Lansing native Nick Wey.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Monster Energy Supercross season features 17 races of heart-stopping action in some of the largest venues in North America. Every week, the best riders from across the globe, like champions Ryan Villopoto, James Stewart, Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey, seek to outrace each other on the sport’s most challenging courses. – D.N.

GENESEE COUNTY — With practices taking place every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. at Skateland Arena and new skaters and referees always welcome, the Mid-Michigan Derby Girls women’s flat track roller derby team is currently offering Sunday Fundays. This includes Derby 101 from 4-5 p.m. and a scrimmage to test skating skills from 5-7 p.m. on March 23, April 6 and May 4. Cost is $5 for one or $7 for both.

UM-Flint pinned with postseason defeat

HUDSONVILLE — At the Georgetown Ice Arena on Feb. 21 in an American Collegiate Hockey Association regional matchup, the University of Michigan-Flint hockey club, 16-11-3, lost at Calvin College, 4-2. Swartz Creek’s Andrew Lay scored the opening goal of the game for UM-Flint and senior Schuyler Ferguson, 12-5-1, was in net.

Burton natives Daniel Smith and Cody Damon ended the year with 21 and seven points, respectively. — M.S.
