Play It Again Sports open new storefronts
AREAWIDE — Perani Arena and Event Center and the Polar Palace Arena of Lapeer will house new Play It Again Sports storefronts. The Perani Arena site will sell tickets, sports wear and other items for the new NAHL Michigan Warriors hockey team, and will ser ve as its pro shop for all hockey related services. Both sites will sell spor ts gear of all sorts. The Perani storefront opens mid September, while the Lapeer store opened in February of this year. Youth football league practices underway
FLINT — The Carman-Ainsworth Youth Football and Cheerleading League began practices on Monday with the season starting Sept. 11 and running through Oct. 23. The complete season schedule will be available two days before the first games in September through the Mid-Michigan Rural Football League.
Football offers three divisions with freshmen ages 8-9 weighing no more than 90 pounds, JV players ages 10-11 weight limit of 120 pounds and varsity for kids no more than 12-years old and 160 pounds. Six games will be played—three home, three away—at area schools. Games officiated by MHSAA-certified officials.
The cheerleading program provides three divisions with a freshmen ages 6-9, JV for 10-11 year olds and varsity for girls no more than 12 years of age. Details: 810-

Lois Craig Invitational hits the bricks
FLINT — The public is invited to come out and support the Area 13 Special Olympians as they take part in the annual Lois Craig Invitational run that is par t of the Crim Festival of Races. The race takes place at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 on the bricks of Saginaw Street with the star t line at the south end of the bridge heading south to the corner of Kearsley Street. More than 80 special athletes from the Greater Flint Area are expected to race. — L.P.
Michigan Warriors Training camp
FLINT — The public is invited to a rare opportunity to watch the new NAHL Michigan Warrirors training camp invitees vie for spots on the final roster. The training camp, free and open to the public, takes place Monday, Sept. 6 at Perani Arena from 2-3:30 p.m. Former Lapeer East hockey player Robert Tadazak has already made the team and Davison’s Travis Carto, drafted this year, has now opted to instead play golf for Mott Community College. Warriors season tickets on sale
FLINT — The Michigan Warriors, the new NAHL Jr. team at Perani Arena is offering season ticket packages for all 27 home games. Tickets are $7 and includes $2 in Arena Bucks redeemable for concessions and merchandise at each game. The Warriors’ first home game is Friday, Sept. 24 against the Springfield Jr. Blues. Waza Football Club hosts clinic
GRAND BLANC — The Waza Football Club that took over where Genesee Stars left off has open registration for a youth clinic that runs Saturdays Sept. 11 through Oct. 9. In its second year, the clinic takes place on Field 2A at the Rick Hartker complex. It’s open to kids ages 3- 10 with beginner to intermediate experience.
