Open registration for Learn to Skate/Learn to Play
BURTON – Open registration is ongoing for the Greater Flint Hockey Association’s Learn to Skate/Learn to Play Hockey programs. The 501c3 association operates its programs out of the Crystal Fieldhouse (formerly Ice Mountain). Warriors pick up pair of wins
FLINT — In North American Hockey League action at the Perani Arena and Event Center in Genesee County, the Michigan Warriors beat the Springfield Junior Blues 1-0 on Oct. 18. Connecting for the only goal of the night was Alex Berardinelli at 12:58 of the opening period on passes from Cody Lichtenvort and Zed Dietrich. Between the pipes for Michigan, Trevor Gorusch stopped all 40 of the shots he faced in this contest.
On Oct. 17 the Warriors also defeated Springfield 5-2 as Tyler Groat tied the game at 1-1 at 15:01 of the initial period with help from Cam Jorgenson. Scoring next for Michigan was Garrison Sanipass on the assists by Colin Horton and Ivan Osko at 3:06 of the second to make it a 2-2 contest.
Andrew Barbeau then hit nothing but net to give the Warriors their first lead of the game at 15:15 of the second on passes from Alex Berardinelli and Mitch Wedding. Jorgensen was next to light the lamp for Michigan at 17:45 of the second with help from AJ Marcinek and Ryan Wischow and rounding out the evening’s offense was Berardinelli on assists by Wedding and Barbeau.
In goal Wischow knocked down 31 of the 33 shots sent his way, as well. The Warriors are now 6-7, placing them fourth in the six-team North Division. On offense the squad is led by Tyler Groat with five goals and four assists, Marcinek has four goals and three assists and charting three goals and four assists is Sanipass. Youth basketball camp, league on tap
DAVISON — The catholic community of St. John & Blessed Sacrament will be holding a youth basketball camp on Jan. 10 and a seven-week youth hoops’ league beginning on Jan. 17. The camp is intended for kindergarteners through third graders and will take place at St. John Family Center at 505 N Dayton St. in Davison.
