Warriors drop three to Soo

FLINT — The Michigan Warriors lost 9-8 in a shootout to the Soo Saturday.

The Warriors scored four times in the first period and added two more each in the second and third. Alex Berardinelli opened the scoring for the Warriors from Conor Durgan. Cody Kuster scored the next two goals while the Warriors were shorthanded. Both of Kuster’s goals were unassisted.

Cam Jorgensen’s power-play tally made it 4-3 Michigan heading to the second. Dalton Skelly and AJ Marcinek netted power-play goals in the middle frame to put Michigan in front 6-4 heading to the third.

Derek Frentz and Colin Horton had the final two goals for the Warriors. Horton’s tally came with 1:56 left and tied the score at 8-8.

The Warriors dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Soo Friday. The Warrios led 2-1 after one on goals by Anthony Parrucci and Horton.

Horton’s goal came on the power play. Michigan remained in front 3-2 after two on a goal by Skelly.

The Soo, however, came back to tie it in the third on a goal by Nick Keck. Trevor Cope scored the decisive goal in the extra session for the Soo.

The Warriors dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Soo on Wednesday. Michigan scored a goal in each period. Berardinelli scored on the power play from Jorgensen and Mitch Wedding at 4:55 of the first.

Tyler Groat scored the final two goals for the Warriors, He scored in the second from Mike Behm and Ryan Burr and netted another in the third from Marvinek and Horton.

The Warriors play three games at North- Division leading Janesville Friday, Saturday and Tuesday. Michigan is currently in third place, 12 points behind Janesville. — K.W.

Youth basketball camp, league on tap

DAVISON — The catholic community of St. John & Blessed Sacrament will be holding a youth basketball camp on Jan. 10 and a seven week youth hoops’ league beginning on Jan. 17. The camp is intended for kindergarteners through third graders and will take place at St. John Family Center at 505 N Dayton St. in Davison. Wings, Generals alumni to meet

FLINT – The Detroit Red Wings Alumni will face off against the Flint Generals Alumni on Feb. 20 at Perani Arena. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
