Warriors drop pair to Janesville

FLINT — The Michigan Warriors dropped a pair of games to Janesville on Dec. 19-20.

The Warriors lost the first game 6-1. The Jets scored at least one goal in every period en route to the victory.

Janesville led 3-0 after the opening period. Two of the Jets’ three goals came with the man advantage.

Both teams scored a goal in the middle period. Mchigan’s Mitch Wedding scored on the power play from Cam Jorgensen and Dalton Skelly before Adam Winborg netted an even-strength tally to put Janesville back up by three heading to the third.

The Jets scored two more even-strength goals in the third period. Jake Stephan stopped 28 shots in net for the Warriors.

Michigan dropped the second game to Janesville 3-0. The score was tied 0-0 after the opening 20 minutes.

Janesville scored tow goals in the second period and added one in the third to lock up the victory. One of the Jets’ three goals came on the power play.

Ryan Wischow made 27 stops in net for the Warriors. Michigan played two more games against Janesville on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Results for those games were not available at press time. The Warriors headed into the two games in third place in the North Division with 31 points.

Michigan will be of until Jan. 9 when they return home for a two-game series with the Jets. — K.W.

Former Cavalier playing well

DETROIT — Former Carman-Ainsworth player Anton Webster is having a solid year for the University of Detroit Mercy basketball team. Webster is averaging 10.3 points a game in 13 outings this season.

He is shooting .506 from the field, including a .458 percentage from three-point range. Webster is knocking down 94 percent of his charity tosses. He averages 3.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steal per game. — K.W.

UM-Flint gets extended break

FLINT — The UM-Flint hockey team is off until a home-and-home series with Grand Valley State University Jan. 9-10. UM-Flint is currently 14-5-0 on the season.

Nathan Robson is leading the team in scoring with 17 goals and 11 assists. The team has four other players with at least 21 points.

Mark Look has 15 goals and 10 helpers, Cody Damon has 13 goals and 11 assists, Andrew Lay has four goals and 18 helpers and Daniel Cowan has nine goals and 12 assists. — K.W.

Flint Fights at Perani Arena

FLINT — Flint Fights will lead off a night of fighting at Perani Arena on Jan. 3. Joe Haney takes on Travis Rhodes at 7 p.m. with special attractions of ToughMan fights. At 8 p.m. Flint Cage Fights take place with tickets ranging from $20-$30 in advance with a $3 surcharge day-of event. to sign up for the ToughMan portion of the ticket. — L.P.
