Warriors drop two to Janesville
FLINT — The Michigan Warriors dropped a pair of North American Hockey League contests to Janesville last weekend. The Warriors dropped the first game 5-2. Michigan held a 2-1 lead heading to the third, but Janesville scored four times in the period to post the come-from-behind win.
Tyler Groat scored on the power play in the first period from AJ Marcinek and Cody Lichtenvoort to put Michigan on top 1-0 heading to the second. Ivan Osko scored from Groat and Colin Horton at 13:36 of the second to make it 2-0 Warriors.
A shorthanded goal by Brandon Schultz began the rally for Janesville. Schultz also drew an assist on Zach Lavalle’s power-play tally that tied the score at 2-2 :38 into the third. Another power-play goal by Dan Kucerovy proved to be the game-winner.
The Warriors gave up four goals in the first period and dropped the second game by an 8-3 decision. Janesville added a pair of goals in the second and third periods to finish off the Warriors.
Ryan Sete scored on the power play from Marcinek and Lichtenvoort at 2:53 of the second. Cody Kuster had the Warriors’ other goal from Cam Jorgensen and Ryan Dougherty at 1:11 of the third.
The Warriors play a pair of games at Springfield Friday and Saturday. Michigan is currently in last place in the North Division with 31 points. — K.W.
Wilson continues strong season
DETROIT —Former Carman-Ainsworth player Anton Wilson had another good performance in the University of Detroit- Mercy’s 74-54 victory over Oakland University Saturday.
Wilson finished with 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals. Wilson is averaging 9.8 points per game this season for the Titans. He is shooting .491 from the field and .850 from the free-throw line. — K.W.
UM-Flint sweeps pair
FLINT — The UM-Flint hockey team took a pair of games from Grand Valley State Friday and Saturday. UM-Flint won the first game 2-1 and took the second game 5-4.
Mark Look had the game-winner in the opener. Jake Brejnak also scored for UM-Flint. Ian Roberts made 31 saves in net. Andrew Lay had a pair of goals in the second game. George Makranyi, Look and Swartz Creek’s Barndyn Matte also scored. Matte finished with a goal and an assist. Roberts and Brent Smiles combined for 35 saves in net. — K.W.

AUBURN HILLS — Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the 2014-15 Michigan High School Athletic Association varsity individual wrestling finals March 5-7 in Oakland County can do so now via the Palace box office.
In fact, according to a MHSAA press release, “Spectators ordering reserved seat tickets must designate the wrestling division they prefer to watch, which will result in their ticket assignment being in full view of the mats being used for that competition. For Divisions 3 and 4, the seats will be on the side of the arena opposite the mat placement, providing an unobstructed view of those mats.
“Group seating is available on a general admission basis in the upper level of The Palace for all sessions. A minimum purchase of 10 tickets per session is required. Group tickets are $4.50 when purchased in quantities of 10 per session, with the price including in and out parking privileges at The Palace.
