Warriors split pair

FLINT — The Michigan Warriors split a pair of games with Keystone in North American Hockey League action Friday and Saturday.

Michigan dropped the opening game of the two-game set 4-1. Keystone scored three goals in the third period to lock up th victory.

The Warriors’ lone goal came off the stick of Anthony Parrucci. Dalton Skelly and Mitch Wedding drew assists on the goal by Parrucci.

The goal also enabled the Warriors to avoid be shut out in the contest. Michigan finished with a total of 42 shots for the game.

The Warriors scored solo goals in the first and second periods to take the second game of the series 2-1. A goal by Peter Bates from Shane Cuckovich and Derek Frentz at 7:21 of the first out the Warriors in front 1-0 after one.

Cody Kuster’s goal from Cam Jorgensen and Ryan Sete at the 7:21 mark of the middle Frame made it 2-0 Michigan heading to the third. Keystone scored at the 12:14 mark of the third to cut their deficit to one, but it was unable to get the equalizer.

Both teams finished with 31 shots on goal. Chase Munroe picked up the win in net for the Warriors.

Michigan closes out the regular season with a pair of games against the Soo at Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie this Friday and Saturday night. Friday’s game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. with Saturday’s puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Warriors are currently in fifth place in the North Division with a total of 55 points. — K.W.

Rules meeting

LANSING — Spring rules meetings for coaches and officials are being held now until April 9. Varsity coaches in soccer, boys lacrosse, softball and baseball must attend an in-person or online rules meeting in order to be able to coach in the MHSAA postseason tournament in their sport. Meetings for golf, girls lacrosse, tennis and track and field go online next week. All coaches — assistant or head coach or paid volunteer — must attend a meeting or take an online rules and health/safety meeting. A meeting takes less than an hour to complete online and coaches have two months to get it done. — K.W.

Sports card, toy show coming

LAPEER – A sports card and memorabilia show that will include NASCAR diecast cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars, farm toys and other items will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 12 at American Legion Post No. 16, 1701 W. Genesee St., in Lapeer. Admission is free, and any donations will be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and needy families in the area. Eight-foot tables are available at $25.
