Firebirds hosting national anthem signer tryouts

FLINT — The Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League are currently searching for individual singers and groups to perform both the American and Canadian national anthems at Firebirds’ home games this coming season.

The tryout will be at Perani Arena on Tuesday, June 23 from 6-8 p.m. The Firebirds are seeking a rotating group of soloists, as well as school, church and choir groups. Details: Karla Turner at 810-742-2004 or karla@flintfirebirds.com. — B.P.

Love To Play Softball Camp

LINDEN – The Love To Play Softball Camp for players in grades 4-6 will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon June 29, June 30 and July 1 at Linden Elementary School, 400 S. Bridge Street. Cost is $40 with a T-shirt. Campers will work on fundamental softball skills with experienced coaches, and high school and college athletes. Limited spaces are available. All-Star games

FLINT — The annual Bruin Classic All-Star games for high school seniors are set to take place over the next couple of weeks. The baseball and softball contests will be played Monday, June 22. The softball game will start the proceedings at 6 p.m. with the baseball game to follow at 8 p.m. Both games will be played at Whitley Park. The basketball game will be played Friday, June 26 at 6 and 8 p.m. at Bellanger Fieldhouse. — K.W.

Early race registration

FLINT — Early pre-registration for the 10 and 5K races at Atwood Stadium on Saturday, July 18 ends on Saturday, July 4. After that day, entrants must pay a late fee to enter. The early registration fee is $25 with a short and $15 without a shirt. Late registration is $30 with a shirt and $20 without. Duo Medal-y early registration is $40 with a shirt and $30 with no shirt. Duo Medal-y late registration is $45 with a shirt and $35 without. Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Crim Training Vouchers will be accepted on the day of the race but availability of shirts will not be guaranteed. Vouchers are good for one race. Those doing the duo pay $15 for early registration and $20 for late registration. – K.W.

Fun Run

DAVISON — The annual Color Me Davison 5K Fun Run will be held Thursday, July 11 at 6 p.m. The race begins in the back of Jack Abernathy Regional Park on Harvey Drive and South Dayton. Archery event coming

FLINT — The 2015 Greater Flint Olympian and CANUSA Games will hold an archery event Sunday, July 19. Divisions in the U, 7-10, 11-12, 13-17 and 18 and over will be held for all competitions. Classes include Freestyle, Freestyle Limited and Traditional for all rounds but the NASP Indoor Youth 3-D Round. The fee is $5 for those 17 and under and $10 for those 18 and over for one or all events. The event will be held at the Flint Bowman Club at 5478 S. Belsay Road in Grand Blanc.
