Early registration for races

FLINT — Early pre-registration for the 10 and 5K races at Atwood Stadium on Saturday, July 18 ends on Saturday, July 4. After that day, entrants must pay a late fee to enter. The early registration fee is $25 with a short and $15 without a shirt. Late registration is $30 with a shirt and $20 without. Duo Medal-y early registration is $40 with a shirt and $30 with no shirt. Duo Medal-y late registration is $45 with a shirt and $35 without. Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Crim Training Vouchers will be accepted on the day of the race but availability of shirts will not be guaranteed. Vouchers are good for one race. Those doing the duo pay $15 for early registration and $20 for late registration. – K.W.

Archery event coming

FLINT — The 2015 Greater Flint Olympian and CANUSA Games will hold an archery event Sunday, July 19. Divisions in the ^U, 7-10, 11-12, 13-17 and 18 and over will be held for all competitions. Classes include Freestyle, Freestyle Limited and Traditional for all rounds but the NASP Indoor Youth 3-D Round. The fee is $5 for those 17 and under and $10 for those 18 and over for one or all events. The event will be held at the Flint Bowman Club at 5478 S. Belsay Road in Grand Blanc. Hall to induct three teams

GRAND BLANC – The Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame has announced the three teams to be inducted in this year’s class.

The 1962-65 St. John Vianney golf teams will be inducted as one entry for winning three state championships while compiling an 89-7 dual meet record in that four-year span.

The 1963 Flint Northern wrestling team won the state championship. The 1976 Flint Beecher boys’ basketball team went undefeated at 27-0 and beat River Rouge 80-76 for the state title.

Those teams, along with seven individuals, will be inducted on Dec. 6 at the Genesys Conference and Banquet Center. The individual selections will be announced at a press party on Oct. 7.

Baseball tryouts July 10

GRAND BLANC – Coast to Coast Baseball is inviting local players ages 14-18 to a tryout event at 10 a.m. July 10 at Genesee Fieldhouse. Players accepted to the program will join college coaches and pro scouts at the Roger Dean Complex in Jupiter, Fla., for games and instruction. Soccer Finishing Camp

GRAND BLANC – The Summer 2015 Soccer Finishing Camp will be held July 21-23 at Grand Blanc High School. The youth camp for ages 8-11 runs from 3-4:30 p.m. at a cost of $85. The premier camp for ages 12+ runs from 6-8 p.m. at a cost of $90. There are family discounts for multiple campers.

Players will be taught how to create and convert scoring opportunities with small-sided games. Special goalkeeper training will be available at each camp for those signing up as a goalkeeper.

Schlee tournament July 25

GRAND BLANC – The 22nd annual Ryan Schlee Memorial Soccer Tournament will be held July 25.

The 3v3 tournament is part of a two-day celebration of soccer in memory of Ryan, who passed shortly after graduation. It begins with an alumni game Friday night, July 24, at Grand Blanc High School. The tournament will follow on Saturday at Rick Hartker Soccer Complex on Maple Road, with the first games at 8 a.m.

Cost for the tournament is $120 per team, which includes a minimum of three games and a t-shirt for all participants registered prior to July 10. Register online at or email – D.N.

Fun Run

DAVISON — The annual Color Me Davison 5K Fun Run will be held Thursday, July 11 at 6 p.m. The race begins in the back of Jack Abernathy Regional Park on Harvey Drive and South Dayton. Fundamental softball camp on the slate

BURTON – Bentley softball coach Jeremy Campbell is hosting a free fundamental softball camp for players of all ages on July 14 and 15. The camp is open to everyone regardless of school they attend and runs at the varsity softball field at the high school. Ages 6-12 participate from 9-11 a.m. and those ages 13-18 from noon-2 p.m. Camp focuses on fundamentals of hitting and fielding, softball drills and game scenarios.
