Greater Flint Hockey Association to put on disabled hockey program

BURTON — The Greater Flint Hockey Association will be hosting the Detroit Red Wings Foundation on Oct. 10 in a first-ever hockey for the disabled program in mid-Michigan. The Association, along with the help of Star Rehab from Genesys, Crystal Fieldhouse and U.S.A. Hockey, are supplying all the equipment necessary for those with disabilities to try hockey on one of the number of sleds that will be available 10:30 a.m.-noon. – L.P.

Flint Hall of Fame announces inductees

GRAND BLANC – The Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame announced its 2015 inductees Wednesday night at a press party at Genesys Health Club and Banquet Center. Andre Weathers, Glen Rice, Jim Fuller, Lee Middleton, Mary Down, Duane Wohlfert and Distinguished Service Award winner Steve Braun will be inducted at a banquet Dec. 5 at the same site.

Three teams had already been announced as inductees: the 1963 Flint Northern wrestling team, 1963-65 St. John Vianney golf teams and 1976 Beecher basketball team. – D.N.
