Davison baseball camp to include Leach visit
DAVISON – The annual OC Davison Baseball Camp will run June 27-30 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Davison High, and will include an appearance by former Michigan quarterback and Detroit Tiger Rick Leach.
The camp focuses on virtually every aspect of the game: base running, hitting, pitching, catching, infield play, outfield play, bunting and throwing. Campers rotate through 6-7 stations set up around the field. Instructors include Mott Community College coach Sean Brown and Tim Weeks (Mr. Baseball), former Genesee High coach and Mott assistant.
Youngsters ages 6 to 2016 graduates are eligible. The cost is $140 for 22 hours of instruction, rain or shine. To register, contact camp director Ted Mahan at firstname.lastname@example.org. – D.N.
Softball Bash coming
GRAND BLANC – The Grand Blanc Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a Softball Bash for girls 10U and 14U on June 25 at Bicentennial Park. The day consists of morning clinics for each age group on hitting, fielding and pitching, followed by a fun afternoon of kickball, home run derby, dunk tank, a splash pad, corn hole and other games.
The cost is $30 for the whole day, plus $2 for the home run derby, dunk tank and splash pad. Proceeds benefit the GBPR girls’ softball programs. Registration is due by June 20.
Check-in is from 9:30-9:55 a.m., with the clinics from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., lunch from 12:30-1:30 (provided for players and available for purchase for families) and afternoon activities from 1:30-4:30.
