Spread the Cheer promotion aims to help local business owners

FLINT TWP. — Residents can lend a helping hand to local small businesses by participating in the Spread the Cheer sweepstakes this holiday season.

From now through Dec. 20, the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce will be accepting nominations for local businesses who need a boost during the holiday shopping season. As part of the contest, the Chamber will be asking entrants to answer the question, “Of all the independently owned businesses located in Genesee County, Michigan, where would you most like to spread some cheer?”

The contest is intended to shine a light on small businesses in Genesee County and encourage area consumers to shop locally.

Small businesses listed on winning entries can win $1,000, and the person that nominates them can win a $500 Visa gift card to put toward their holiday shopping budget.

The Chamber will randomly select one entry each week, for a total of five winning submissions. To qualify for the sweepstakes, businesses must be independently owned and not a franchise; must be located in Genesee County, Michigan; and may not have previously won the sweepstakes.

Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 20, with the final winning entry selected on Dec. 21.

Tracey Tucker, Flint Township’s Economic Enhancement Director, said that residents can also visit the Flint Township Events page on Facebook to learn more about the promotion.
