Whaley Children’s Center (WCC) received a $25,000 grant for educational improvements from State Farm Neighborhood Assist last week. This grant will add several improvements to the on-ground school, the LaFontaine Learning Academy, including air conditioning in the gymnasium, improvements to the art room, creating an inviting and functional meeting space and the addition of sensory spaces. This grant was awarded to WCC after they placed in the top 40 of the 200 finalists the State Farm Review Committee had selected from 2,000 applications. To place in the top 40, WCC had to gain community votes on the State Farm Neighborhood Assist website.
