FLINT TWP. — Motorists will have to forgo taking the shortcut from Corunna to Linden Road on August 4 because a portion of Healthsource Boulevard will be closed during the HAP Community Health Fair.
Police and fire chiefs asked for the road closure in the interest of safety, said Tracey Tucker, deputy clerk. The townships new Downtown Development Authority Community Events Committee is working with HAP, 2050 S. Linden Rd., to make this event successful.
Police, fire and ambulance vehicles will attend along with a hydrogen powered MTA bus, said Carol Pfaff Dahl, trustee and events committee member. Food and prizes will be offered and a shuttle bus provided from the parking lot at Genesee Valley Center shopping mall.
The road closure is set to take place from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., according to the application to the Genesee County Road Commission, requesting permission to close the road during the event. The portion of the road to be closed is between HAP driveways, but not blocking access to the adjacent Patsy Lou Williamson car dealership.
Pfaff-Dahl also announced that the police department’s annual National Night Out is being planned for August 8. The events committee also is working with GV officials to sponsor a Halloween haunted trail event in the park next to the police station.
Additionally, the committee is in the early stages of assembling a community events calendar that will be posted on the township website, she said.
