GENESEE COUNTY — The STS Foundation is trying to find host families for incoming students and supervise their stay in the USA. A spokesperson for the organization said hosting may create a relationship that will last for a lifetime.
By hosting, families have the opportunity to learn about another culture in their own homes. The host family’s responsibilities are two meals a day, a separate bed to sleep in and a quiet place to study.
The students come into your family as a family member, not a guest. STS students have their own spending money, medical insurance and are responsible for their own personal expenses. Single parents, empty nesters, families with children of all ages and couples without children are all qualified to be host families.
The student attends your local school and is required to maintain at least a C average in every class. They have been screened before being accepted into the program.
