FLINT TWP. — Flint-area students have until March 1 to apply for one of three $2,500 scholarships being offered by the West Flint Business Association.
The annual awards specify three categories: High School Community Service, Adult Learners and the GASC Technology Center.
The High School Community Service Scholarship targets high school seniors who are college bound. The award will recognize a student who demonstrates exceptional achievement and leadership skills through involvement in their school and community. Applicants must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 to 4.0 but other factors will be considered in choosing the winner.
The Adult Learner Scholarship targets people who are working or in college who want to further their education. They must be out of high school for at least three years and able to show evidence of good citizenship, character and ability. Other conditions apply.
For the GASC Technology Center Scholarship, applicants must be a high school senior who has been enrolled in a Career and Technology program at the Tech Center who is planning to pursue a related specialty area in college. Completed applications must be accompanies by a current high school or college transcript, two current letters of recommendation
(non-relatives or clergy), a personal written summary of why the applicant should be chosen and a copy of a valid Michigan Driver’s License or Michigan ID Card. Applicants must also be residents of Genesee County and U.S. Citizens.
