July 18-22: Flushing Soccer camp. Kids in grades pre-K through seventh are invited to attend a soccer camp at Seymour Elementary, 3088 N. Seymour Road, Flushing. Camp runs 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost: $50 if registered by July 15, $60 if after that. Includes free T-Shirt. Skills will include passing, dribbling, shooting, trapping, fakes, crossing, finishing, team-work, keeper instruction as well as offensive and defensive structure. Last day of camp will be a 3v3 tournament. The camp is designed to teach campers the fundamentals of the game as well as to teach team-work and the enjoyment of playing soccer. The camp will provide the camper with new skills as well as to enhance upon the skills that they already have. Bring soccer shoes, soccer ball, shin guards, lunch, and any extra water or drink. Water will be provided at the field. Camp counselors will be coordinated by Andy Rishmawi, Flushing varsity soccer coach. July 19-21: Grand Blanc Summer Soccer Finishing Camp. Youth camp open to ages 8-11, premier camp open to ages 12 and up. Must register by July 11 to receive T-shirt. July 18-21: Davison varsity softball summer skills camp for girls entering grades 2-8 in the fall. Camp runs 9-11:30 a.m. at the varsity softball field. Additional clinics for pitchers and catchers will also be available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.This individual skills camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of softball through offensive and defensive drills. The camp will focus on proper fielding techniques, hitting and throwing. The program will be directed by the varsity softball staff and players. A camp T-shirt will also be included with registration. Cost: $40. Additional $20 fee for those attending the specialized training for pitchers and catchers following the skills camp. July 25-28: Swartz Creek Football Camp. Grades 10-12: 8-11 a.m.; Grades 7-8-9: 4:30-6 p.m.; Grades 2-6: 6:30-8 p.m.Cost: $30 (pre-registration), $35 at the door. Camp takes place at Swartz Creek High School Football Practice Fields. Please attempt to pre-register by July 10 for T-shirt order, however, walk-ins are welcome.
July 26-28: Davison Made 2016 Youth Football Camp. Cost: $50. Open to kids about to enter grades 1-8 in the fall. Camp takes place at the varsity practice fields. Aug 1-2: Junior Cheerleading Camp for students ages 5-14. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Davison’s Central Elementary. Designed to advance kids in the sport of cheerleading. Sudents grouped based on age and experience. Campers will learn fun cheers, skills and dances from their designated buddies from Davison cheer teams. Campers will be performing at the end of camp. Sign in 9:30-10 a.m. in the Central Elementary School Gym. Cost: $55 per child. Kids should bring lunch for the first day of camp. Lunch will be provided on the second day. Child should also bring snacks and a water bottle both days. Participants will receive a cheer T-shirt, shorts and a certificate of completion. Campers should arrive in athletic apparel ready to cheer (shorts, t-shirt, tennis shoes, hair up and out of face). Camp outfit will be supplied.
Aug. 13: Mott Community College softball skills camp. At the Mott softball field, 1625 Nebraska St., Flint. 9 a.m.-noon for girls in grades 9-12 and 1-4 p.m. for girls in grades 5-8. Instruction will be given on all softball fundamentals – hitting, bunting, throwing, catching, baserunning et cetera—with Mott coaching staff and players. Includes plenty of one-on-one instruction. Cost: $50. Each session limited to 20 players, so register early. Players should bring their favorite bat (optional) and their own glove.
