Suspect charged in series of cash store holdups

GRAND BLANC — The suspect in a series of cash store holdups was behind bars after police in Grand Blanc caught up with him last week.

Rollo Pickens, 40, faces charges of armed robbery, felony firearm and assaulting, resisting or obstructing an officer. Investigators allege he confessed to all of the robberies.

On Thursday, Dec. 3, around 3:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the Check N Go at 545 E. Grand Blanc Road for a report of a suspicious man matching the description of the suspect in previous robberies at cash stores in Genesee and Livingston counties, including the Grand Blanc Check N Go.

Officers say the suspect resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

The heists began Nov. 14 when the Cash Store on Center Road in Burton was robbed at gunpoint, police said.

On Nov. 19, a man matching the description of the culprit from the Burton robbery entered the Check N Go in Grand Blanc, robbing the clerk at gunpoint, according to police.

The suspect allegedly attempted to rob the Check N Go in Fenton on Nov. 23, but fled when he found the door locked. Later that day, he reportedly held up the Check N Go in Howell.

On Nov. 30, the Check N Go in Swartz Creek was robbed, allegedly by the same man. — L.R.
