FLINT — Financial Plus Credit Union and the Swartz Creek Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their 15th annual Whatchamacallit networking event on Dec. 7 to raise money and donations to benefit the Old Newsboys of Flint and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
As has become the tradition, Financial Plus provided the venue, opening their main office at G-3381 Van Slyke Road early so guests could enjoy breakfast and support a good cause.
“We look forward to hosting this event each year with the Swartz Creek Chamber,” said Olga Long, senior vice president of Financial Plus Credit Union. “The support and donations we receive from the attendees help two great causes, and it really brings out the holiday spirit in all of our guests. We are elated to present a check to the Old Newsboys of Flint in the amount of $1,975. These funds go toward helping children in need in our community by providing them shoes, a coat, and a toy on Christmas.”
The networking event allows local business professionals to interact with hundreds of businesses and community professionals, while benefiting the local charities. Monetary donations and non-perishable food items were accepted throughout the event. One hundred percent of funds raised through raffles and donations went directly to the Old Newsboys. All food items went directly to the Food Bank, assisting those in great need during holiday the season.
Whatchamacallit was filled with holiday cheer, music from local radio stations, prize drawings, a breakfast buffet, and a photo booth from Freeze Frame Photo Lounge. The Gingerbread Man made an appearance announcing guests from the naughty and nice list. CK 105.5, Cars 108, 103.9 The Fox, NASH FM 95.1 and Banana 101.5 broadcast live from the event all morning.
