FLINT TWP. — First-place power carried Carman-Ainsworth/Flushing to a 100-85 victory over Powers Catholic in a Saginaw Valley League swimming and diving meet last Tuesday.
The Cavaliers won seven of the 12 events to post their third straight victory and improve to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
Patrick Sharp won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.43 and the 100 free in 53.85 to lead the Cavs. Chris Michael dominated the diving event with a hefty 214.55 point total, 59.40 points ahead of the Powers runner-up. David Burckheart took the 100 butterfly in 1:06.93, and Tyler Pangerl won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.24.
Carman-Ainsworth/Flushing started and ended the meet with relay victories. Pangerl, Sharp, Blake McDonald and Seandre Harris-Salaam swam the 200 medley relay in 1:51.38. Erick VanDuyne, McDonald, Pangerl and Sharp took the 400 free relay in 3:56.05.
The Cavs will host Flint Southwestern and Flint Northern tomorrow.
