Table’s been set for Super Bowl

The Super Bowl will be an instant classic. Those are my first thoughts on the Chiefs and 49ers match-up. The boys of Vegas have the Chiefs as one-point favorites and the total is set at 54 points.

How did we arrive at this match-up? The AFC Championship game was the Cinderella story with sixth-seeded Tennessee coming into Kansas City as a red-hot football team. The Titans were riding a hot running back in Derrick Henry. The Titans jumped out to a 10- point lead, 17-7, however, could not hold off the Kansas City football team. The Chiefs rallied to a 35-24 final score sending them to the Super Bowl. The turning point came at the end of the first half when Patrick Mahomes tippy toed down the sideline for a touchdown before the first half ended. The Tennessee team never recovered from that touchdown and its great season came to screeching halt.

The show Derrick Henry put on in defeating New England and Baltimore was incredible with his rushing of the football. It’s been over 50 years since Kansas City last reached the Super Bowl (Detroit Lions still sitting on ZERO)!

San Fran routs Packers

The San Francisco 49ers crushed the Green Bay Packers 37-20 and the game was a rout the entire game. I never once thought the Packers would have a chance to win this football contest while watching the game, to be honest. I would also say I thought the Packers were totally not prepared and should have never got off the bus at the stadium.

The fact that Raheem Mostert rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns is embarrassing, if you ask me. For all you people who want to give up in life, look to Mr. Mostert for inspiration. How about Raheem has been cut seven times in his NFL career! Yes, seven times. Yet, he never lost faith or gave up in his dreams of a NFL career.

Hey, Lions fans, I want you to think about how bad the Detroit franchise really stinks! In two years under Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, the San Francisco team won a total of 10 football games. I now, in year three, see them in a Super Bowl and shows if the right coach and general manager draft right and are competent, good things happen on the football field. The Lions, on the other hand, never have a drastic turnaround, or make any strides to reach a Super Bowl contending team! What do we get? We get two ex-Patriot guys fuddling around incompetence in Patricia and Quinn! Oh, I also always know if I need to write something down I can borrow the heavy bearded guys yellow pencil. The Lions are a putrid bunch and I need to move on before my computer gets thrown across the room.

The Super Bowl between Kansas City and San Francisco will be a good one, football fans, as these teams are evenly matched. The Kansas City offense is lights out. The San Francisco defense is lights out. The San Francisco running game is tremendous, as is the Kansas City passing attack. I will break down the game next week in depth and pick my winner. I do have a very high success rate in picking Super Bowl winners so stay tuned.

Black eye for MLB gets bigger

The stealing of signs in Major League Baseball proved costly to the Houston Astros and a few managers of other baseball teams. The Astros fired general manager Jeff Lunhow and manager A.J. Hinch and lost draft picks one and two in 2020 and 2021, along with a $5 million fine. The Houston players are walking away with zero repercussions while letting others take the fall! The fact you’re using electronics to cheat is despicable, if you ask me. I personally cannot support or respect the Houston Astros’ baseball team. The players need to be suspended for their actions for participating in this cheating scandal.

Hey, Justin Verlander. The juicedup baseballs you were outspoken about, let’s hear your take on this situation. I have not heard a word from J.V.! thefatguy@mihomepaper.com
