Teammates battle in FJGA final



FLINT
— Jake Troyer defeated Grand Blanc High teammate Billy Teer to win the championship of the Jack Nicklaus Group in Flint Junior Golf Association play Aug. 10-11 at Swartz Creek Golf Course.

Chloe Lawrie of Swartz Creek won the girls’ championship with a 6-and-4 victory over Alicia Flood.

Tyler Szczepanski of Fenton was the first-flight boys’ champion with a 1-up victory over Nick Marsala. Chelsea Thomas took the girls’ first flight with a 2-and-1 win over Desrea Munoz.

Graham Fulcher was the secondflight winner with a 2-up victory over Thomas James.

In the Arnold Palmer 18-hole group, Rebecca Robinson defeated Morgan Zloto, 9-and-7, to win the secondflight title, while Tyler Hazel topped Robert Sparks, 6-and-5, for the boys’ third-flight crown. Mitchell Brcic won the fourth-flight boys’ title with a 6- and-5 win over Jack Chittle. Jack Berry edged Michael Gatica in sudden death for the fifth-flight title. — D.N.
