FLINT TWP. — Law enforcement officers temporarily blocked off the back (Dutcher Road) entrance to the Genesee Valley Center shopping mall last Thursday evening during the arrest of a suspect wanted in Indiana on an assault with intent to commit murder warrant.
Flint Township Police assisted the Michigan State Police Third District Fugitive Team with the apprehension of the individual, according to press statement.
On November 9, The MSP fugitive team received a request to assist the Indiana State Police, who advised they were looking for a suspect, Deonta Dewayne Anderson, age 27. Anderson was wanted by the Anderson Police Department in Madison County, Indiana in connection with a gas station shooting, based on warrant information in The National Crime Information Center crime-tracking database.
The suspect’s phone was noted to have become stationary in the area of Pierson Road and I-75.
A possible vehicle description was given of a silver Charger with temporary. Indiana plates. Team members located the vehicle at the Baymont Hotel in Mt. Morris Township. Shortly after finding the vehicle, the suspect was seen getting into the car with a female. Rolling surveillance was established as the suspect headed south on I-75.
Flint Twp. patrol cars finally caught up to the suspect at Lennon and Miller roads. When they attempted the traffic stop, the suspect accelerated at a high rate of speed, attempting to elude Flint Twp. officers. As the suspect turned southbound onto Dutcher Rd. towards the Genesee Valley Mall, three more marked Flint Twp. cars were coming northbound towards the suspect. When the suspect saw the other three patrol cars, he came to a stop and gave up. He was arrested without further incident. He was lodged awaiting extradition back to Indiana.
