GENESEE COUNTY — Carman Cougars Charities Corp. (CCCC) third annual Golf Classic will be held Friday August 19 at The Jewel of Grand Blanc course, 5270 Perry Rd, Grand Blanc. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start, CCCC is a nonprofit organized in 2014 by alumni of the former Carman High School to improve the educational environment for current Carman-Ainsworth students by affording them opportunities for lifetime achievement as experienced by 1968-1986 Carman graduates.
The golf outing began in 2014 as part of a weekend of all-class reunion activities. Afterward, some reunion organizers saw the need to extend the charitable “party with a purpose” event into an ongoing effort to give back to the community.
The 2015 golf outing raised $6,000, according to info on the CCCC Facebook page. Donations to support the organization are accepted on the CCCC website at www.cougarcharities.org The Golf Classic is CCCC’s biggest and main fundraiser of the year. Proceeds will fund the purchase of winter wear for elementary kids, hygiene products for middle school and high schoolers who don’t have them at home, and scholarships for Seniors.
A partially tax deductible fee of $65 per person includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, two drink tickets, lunch at the turn and a Skins Game in a four-person scramble format.
