Temptations musical gives back to Flint Water Festival

FLINT — Tony Awards nominee Temptations musical “Ain’t Too Proud” gives back to the fourth annual Flint Water Festival.

Even though they will not be able to attend the festivities, there will be a special video presentation, autographed memorabilia, and a pair of show tickets for the charity auction from playwright Dominique Morisseau, the cast and producers of the twelve Tony Awards nominee, “Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations.”

The Flint Water Festival is an annual charity event dedicated to raising funds and awareness to provide safe water for communities affected by the water crisis here and abroad. The festival gives the community free water and a platform for artistic expression to improve the residents’ social and emotional development, in order to mitigate the effects of lead exposure. The event takes place on July 4, 2019 from 3-7 p.m. at Riverbank Park in Flint’s downtown, cultural and college life districts. This year the festival is hosting two $1,000 competitions: Hamiltunes Flint & Charity Lip Sync Battle.

Hamiltunes, the officially licensed sing along to the soundtrack of the award-winning musical “HAMILTON,” is set to hit Flint. Assisting students with their educational studies, a $1,000 scholarship will be given to the best singing performance. The band sponsored by the Flint Institute of Music features Roger Jones II a seasoned jazz pianist and Flint native who has worked professionally in Japan, Europe, and Turkey.

Charity Lip Sync Battle offers a $1,000 cash prize to all ages for the most entertaining act, in order to help residents with water bills, food and shelter.
