Tennis regionals to begin for area teams

SAGINAW – Carman-Ainsworth enters perhaps one of the most rugged regionals at Saginaw Heritage tomorrow with No. 2-ranked Midland Dow in the mix. Dow, Grand Blanc, 9-1 overall, 8-1 league, Holly and host Saginaw Heritage are seeded at every flight. The road will be a tough one with Davison, Grand Ledge, Holt, Lapeer, Midland Dow, Saginaw, Saginaw Heritage and Traverse City West.

Teams have to win, place second or earn 18 points in order to advance to the state meet. The winner and runner up at No. 1 Singles earn automatic berths.

Hoping to help the Lady Cavaliers earn key points is Katie Speaks at No. 1 Singles, Mary Dollinger at No. 2, D’maya Mason at No. 3 and Aniya Harmon at No. 4. Doubles tandems include Rachel Kuczera/Ally Dollinger at No. 1, Samieka Clayton/ Alex Conley at No. 2, Huma Ahmed/ Evangelina Dang at No. 3 and Layla White/Alyssa Thomas at No. 4.
