FLINT —The time is right to purchase a new RV and a great place to do so is at the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) 41st Annual Flint Camper & RV Show, March 15-18.
The show will be at Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Road, located south of I-69 at the Center Road exit.
The show is open weekdays from 2–8 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
There will be more than 50 new 2018 units including folding campers, fifthwheel travel trailers, toy haulers and travel trailers from area dealers including Leisure Days Travel Trailer Sales in Clio; General RV Center in Birch Run; Hamilton’s RV Outlet in Saginaw; Tri-City RV in Bay City; Circle K RVs in Lapeer and McDowell RV Center in North Branch. Special show prices range from $6,995 to more than $75,000.
“It’s a great time to consider getting a new RV with the ‘Sales Tax on the Difference’” said Darren Ing, MARVAC show director. “People trading-in a used RV to purchase a new RV will now only be taxed on the difference between the value of the trade-in and the new RV purchase.”
For example, if the trade-in value of an RV is $50,000 and a new 2018 RV is $100,000, the six percent sales tax will only be applied on the difference, or $50,000, Ing explained.
A few of the 2018 RVs on display at the Flint Camper and RV Show include:
The Salem 27 RKSS travel trailer, brought to the show by McDowell RV Center, is one of the dealerships’ most popular RV and for good reason. The affordable travel trailer sleeps six, has a rear kitchen set-up with an open floor plan, matching recliners and features a slide-out and awning.
The Wolf Pup trailer by Forest River is a perfect example of the style that many first time RVers are looking to get into, said Jeff Korpal, of Tri-City RV. This 16-foot vehicle weighs under 3,000 pounds and is able to be towed by a minivan, yet offers campers attractive sleeping quarters, bathroom with shower and bathtub and a generous kitchen. “This is the camper for those looking to get off the ground,” said Korpal.
For those needing an RV with a bit more space that can be pulled with a standard half-ton pickup, Tim O’Brien at Circle K RVs, Lapeer suggests the Heartland Sundance fifth-wheel. This 30-foot vehicle has three slide outs, a gourmet kitchen with solid surface counters and an open layout floor plan.
“We are always excited to set up at the Flint Camper & RV Show—it’s our hometown show,” said O’Brien. “We love to see old friends and make new friends there.”
